DWI March for a Change

January 25, 2019

On March 8 2018,  at 1:30 p.m. on the South Steps of the State Capitol, everyone is encouraged to gather for a silent march to the single beat of a drum. The AAA Texas DWI March for Change will honor lives lost too soon and also encourage all Texans to change bad habits when it comes to impaired driving.

Spring is a time many celebrate a rite of passage, take a break from studies and work, and enjoy quality time with friends, family and loved ones. However, during this month of spring festivities, such as spring break and SXSW, we must not forget to celebrate wisely. Tragedies as a result of drinking and driving are entirely preventable if you plan ahead before you celebrate so intoxicated drivers don’t kill or injure themselves or others.

In 2017, 1,024 Texans were killed as a result of alcohol-impaired driving and 2,169 were seriously injured. The number of Texans killed due to DWI represents roughly one-third of the total number of Texans killed in crashes in 2017.
