Texas Impaired Driving Internal Assessment Matrix

July 5, 2016

In 2010 and 2015, the State of Texas underwent a technical assessment of its Impaired Driving program. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) selected and convened a multidisciplinary assessment team of nationally recognized experts from outside the agency. The assessments provided Texas the opportunity to conduct a review of their efforts to impact impaired driving. The assessment team met with state officials and other traffic safety stakeholders to hear testimony concerning the strengths and weaknesses of the state’s impaired driving program. Using the testimony and other gathered materials, the assessment team developed and presented a list of recommendations intended to enhance the effectiveness of the impaired driving program.

The matrix below integrates recommendations from the 2010 and 2015 technical assessments. The matrix information includes the original recommendation, status toward implementation, and provides additional detail regarding implementation.
