The lineup of speakers and presenters for the 2018 Texas Traffic Safety Conference has been announced.

The conference will again focus on the seven emphasis areas of the Strategic Highway Safety Plan: distraction, impairment, speeding, intersections, pedestrians, lane and road departures and older user safety. Each topic will be covered in a regular session featured three speakers followed by a discussion circle where attendees can discuss keys to successful programs and identify how to overcome barriers. These facilitated discussion circles will include the speakers from the regular session.

Keynote Luncheon Speaker – Deborah A.P. Hersman, President & CEO, National Safety Council
Ms. Hersman has a vision of eliminating preventable deaths in our lifetime at work, in our homes and communities, and on the road. She is current Chairwoman for the Road to Zero Coalition led by the National Safety Council, The U.S. Department of Transportation’s National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Federal Highway Administration and Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The coalition aims to end roadway fatalities by 2050.
Opening Session
The opening session will feature an introduction of the Texas SHSP brand as well as a presentation by Dr. Marie B. Walsh, Director of the Louisiana Local Technical Assistance Program at the Lousiana Transportation Research Center. Dr. Walsh is known nationally for her knowledge and leadership on traffic safety and will provide insights on how Louisiana is working to turn safety plans into action.
