RED Program

October 30, 2021 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm CDT

Free

Brazos Valley Injury Prevention Coalition (BVIPC) is a grant program at Texas A&M AgriLife Extension in cooperation with the Texas Department of Transportation. Reality Education for Drivers (RED) is a program aimed at teens to reduce traffic injuries and deaths. The RED program’s goal is to provide young, risk-taking drivers who have exhibited unsafe behavior involving alcohol and other drugs, speeding and/or distracted driving with fact based information they can use to make more responsible behavior decisions on the road by encouraging them to drive sober, safe, and attentive. Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death among 15- to 25-year-olds. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, this age group continuously has the highest fatality and injury rates. Teenagers are involved in three times as many fatal crashes than any other drivers on the road.
