Texas Impaired Driving Task Force

Mental and behavioral health treatment services are increasingly becoming a part of national and public discussions. Research findings suggest that repeat DWI offenders have a considerable higher rate of substance use, mental health needs, and/or co-occurring disorders. These conditions substantiate the importance of screening and addressing behavioral and mental health treatment options for DWI offenders.
In response to this need, the Texas A&M Transportation Institute (TTI), in partnership with the Texas Department of Transportation (TxDOT), has developed treatment and referral service training that we can share with members of the community to raise awareness about the impaired driving problem, share impaired driving statistics, discuss the connection between mental health and impaired driving, and lastly, we’ll identify treatment resources with the group.
